The Concept

Miguel discovered that his previous work was not his dream, but the sea and surfing, which have been a regular presence in his life since he was 8 years old.
Today, this dream has become one of the most prestigious surf schools in Portugal, with its innovative teaching method, keeping the personal focus on each student.

Combining a taste for the Sea and Surf, and to help people in their personal development, Surf4 You appears as a solution for all those who, through a surf session, can collect the necessary tools to contemplate daily life in a confident way. We want each one to reach the perfect union with the ocean through the practice of a sport and art that is Surf.

At Surf4 You, through a personalized/flexible learning pace and according to your needs, we focus on achieving your goals, so that every moment we provide is useful in your personal and professional life.

Story

Early 20th Century

Typical boat called “Candil”, with its tapered bow, helped fishermen to enter the surf and surf the waves in those times.This fight was daily and was not always on equal footing.

1968

“This is a summary of recent surfing history in the Portuguese fishing village, but what if we tell you that Garret MacNamara was only one year old when surfing started in Nazaré? It was there in 1968 that Jim Freeman, Greg MacGillivray and Michael D. Margulies filmed Follow Me, A documentary about surfing in various locations around the planet. And let's say that protagonists Bob Purvey, Claude Codgen and Mary Lou McGinnis were probably the first surfers to catch waves in Nazaré.”

70s, 80s of the 20th century

In the photo, Augusto Ribeiro, as one of the first Nazaré surfers. João Grilo and João Eustáquio, from the older generations, followed by Paulo Borges, Rui Pedro Monteiro, José Bizarro, Simão Santos, João de Almeida, João Pejapes, among others, were also among the first local surfers and bodyboarders in Nazaré, who promote the taste of surfing and bodyboarding to the new Nazaré surfing generations.

2020

In the photo, Kay Lenny, a big wave surfer from Maui, Hawaii, on a giant wave in Nazaré. There have been many surfers who have been surfing giant waves in Nazaré, in which Garret McNamara stands out with the first world record.

“1st World Record
In November 2011, after chasing storms and tracking the swells (all paid for by himself), McNamara joined Guinness World Records after surfing a 78 ft (23.8 m) wave at Praia do Norte, located in Nazaré, Portugal, this after being towed to the wave from a jet-ski, riding the 6'0 tow board made by Dick Brewer. His record broke the previous world record by more than a foot, but the premature announcement (by others, not McNamara) proved a source of controversy in world surfing. However, McNamara continues the search for an even bigger wave. ”
